IAAN School of Mass Communication is amongst the select few best media colleges in the country that is recognised by the Press Council of India, the central statutory quasi-judicial autonomous authority for print media in India.

The College rigoursly focuses on teaching students 'Norms of Journalistc Conduct' that are issued by the Press Councll from time to time, providing the official roadmap for how media should function and what are the ethics of journalism.

IAAN has held Roundtable meeting at PCI, Soochna Bhawan and each year our young student journalists are amongst the handful of students from the entire country who are exclusively invited to participate in the National Press Day celebrations.

The College provides exclusive access to the Parliament of India for budding journalists who after receving training advance to the higher-levels in media.

By visiting the Parliament of India, students gain experience in covering the Lok Sabha, the Rajya Sabha, Joint Sitting of the Parliament, and learn first hand how parlimentary democracy works in India. 

Several IAAN Alumni are now working at the Parliament of India as information officers and are always eager to welcome to their juniors to the Parliament to witness a live Parliamentary Session.

Students report regularly on the Parliament and specially during Sessions, honing their journalistic skills in the world's largest democracy.

Select IAAN Student(s) got the exclusive and prestigious opportunity to cover the world's biggest and most famous beauty pageant - MISS WORLD - which was held in India in Feb-March 2024 after 28 long years!

IAAN was an official invitee and partner of Miss World, and the College took the select student(s) to cover the Miss World Finale in Mumbai, at the Jio World Convention Centre. The student(s) got the opportunity to interact with and photograph Nita Ambani, Karan Johar, Kriti Sonan, Sonakshi Sinha, Manushi Chhillar, Pooja Hegde, Harbhajan Singh and many other celebraties on the Miss World Red Carpet.

Students at United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization Headquarters in India

The College has an educational partnership and tie-up with United Nations, India and our students get the rare opportunity to visit the UN Offices in India, interact with UN Members and participate in their seminars. 

Our Students also interact with budding journalists from around the world at the UN and share stories and hold round table discussions with foreign students. Further IAAN Students have for many years now been participating in the UNESCO World Radio Day High Level Programme and thoroughly enjoy working in media at the international level.

Exclusive exposure to the United Nations allows our students to gain international experience and knowledge as well as develop their media and journalistic connections and networks.

Specialised Media Research at IAAN for over 20 years

Each year IAAN Management mentors specialised media research thesis and projects for all final semester students of the College. Through the Research Thesis and projects, students develop a more nuanced and sophisticated understanding of their chosen research areas and this helps them bring the learned specialisation to their jobs and careers.

Over the years students have conducted high level media research on Russia-Ukraine War, Artificial Intelligence, G20 India, Indian Feminine, Deepfakes, Twitter as a political tool, Digital Marketing, IPL and media and many many others topics. 

The specialised research conducted by the students has been appreciated at the highest levels, including by the UGC authorities themselves!

The Delhi Vidhan Sabha extends special privilege to the College and has over the years invited our media students to witness, attend and report on the Legislative Assembly Sessions of the Vidhan Sabha, specially the Budget Session.

Being a Union Territory, Delhi has a special constitutional arrangement and students often work with the Delhi Vidhan Sabha to identify important policy issues and reach out to the masses. The Government of Delhi is always open to hear young voices and the Delhi Vidhan Sabha empowers young minds to work for the public good.

The College and students have a very rich history of creativity and fashion. Being budding journalists, our student community is very outgoing, open, down to earth and talented. IAAN is a steadfast partner of the Nations Armed Forces, and in our Partnership with them, we conduct Media and Digital Information workshops and seminars to inform the future warriors of the country about the benefits and dangers of new media technologies, and how best to use them in a security environment.

For more than 20 years, the Managing Director of the College, Dr. Anuj Garg has been hosting his Iconic MD's Dinner for meritorious students at the 5 star Suryaa Hotel in New Delhi. MD Sir wants all students to have the confidence to dream and achieve big things. To motivate them and appreciate the students who work hard and contribute meaningfully, he personally Hosts the MD's Dinner.

Over the decades the Dinner has become so Iconic, that students as far away from West Bengal, Assam and Bihar have taken admission in order to experience the Magic of MD's Dinner.

The College arranges Educational Tours to exciting locations like Manali, Nanital, Mussoorie, Shimla etc. We firmly believe that the Media Profession is a bold and exciting field, and thus our Educational Tours provide the perfect opportunity for our students to experience the different places in India and learn hands-on while being able to take a break and wind down from the hectic schedule of College life. During the educational tours, students create and shoot their own film projects.

Staff members and students also get the chance to interact and have fun in an informal environment, with bonfire nights, DJ Parties and exciting adventures.

Every student at IAAN, undergoes a media internship in the industry as part of their course. Over the years the College has a stellar track record of almost 100% placement with each student of the Final Semesters finding a job even before they graduate. This is possible because of the specialised education of the College as well as the personalised attention given to each student, by the College Faculty and Management.

We are amongst the very few Institutions who enable 100% support to students in placements. In recent years, during on campus hiring and recruitment drives several students have received starting salary package of Rs. 35,000/- per month (in News 18 Channel) through the College.

IAAN organised the iconic India-Afghanistan Friendship Cricket Match

In 2019, in collaboration with the Afghanistan Embassy in New Delhi, IAAN organised the India-Afghanistan Friendship Cricket Match, which was a huge success and received national and international coverage from Delhi to Kabul. Our focus is on building people to people linkages with all countries and the cricket match is testament to this spirit. 

In the match, IAAN students played against the Afghan National Cricket team and Afghan students, which was a once in a lifetime experience for our students!
